Hanna Ranch Elementary School was built in 1995. In the last official recorded data (2008-2009 school year), it had 449 enrolled students, with an average of 75 students per grade and 23 students per class.

Hanna Ranch Elementary School is part of the West Contra Costa School District. In the 2007-2008 school year, it spent $5,585 per student, compared to $4,536 per student in the district and $5,512 in the state. However, $663 of Hanna Ranch Elementary School's expenditures was supplemental. 

In the 2008-2009 school year, Hanna Ranch Elementary students tested 35 percentage points higher than other schools in the district and 22 percentage points higher than the state.

Parental involvement opportunities include program and parenting informational meetings, family science night, family movie night, potlucks and classroom volunteer opportunities.

The Hanna Ranch Elementary School mission statement says, "our vision is to serve all students according to their strengths and needs and give them the support they need to achieve grade level standards. We will address all curriculum areas and utilizing effective teaching strategies. We will maintain a safe, respectful, interdependent and responsible environment, and give our students the tools they need to become independent, contributing and responsible citizens."
