A man who was charged with having a trunk full of drugs in Hercules in 1997, and then skipping town, was arrested after 15 years on the run.

-Report from the Hercules Police Department. On May 12, 1997, Hercules Police were dispatched to the Goldenrod and Violet for a report of a shooting. Officers located a parked vehicle occupied by two subjects while investigating. After determining no shooting had occurred, the officers continued their contact with the above subjects. During the contact the subjects consented to a search of their vehicles and approximately two pounds of methamphetamines were found in the trunk of the vehicle. Both subjects were arrested and the District Attorney’s Office filed charges against them. The first subject was convicted and the second one, 19 year old Juan Gutierez from Richmond, failed to appear in court and a warrant was issued for his arrest. …

Vandalism: On May 19, 2012 at 2:49 p.m. a resident from Victoria Green Apartments called to report her vehicle was vandalized while it was parked on Tugboat, at Victoria Park. The incident occurred sometime between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on May 18th. An unknown suspect damaged her vehicle by spray painting a swastika on the hood of her burgundy Toyota 4Runner. A case was taken and is under investigation. Stolen Vehicle: On May 19, 2012 at 9:27 p.m. an Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of Brighton Street to take a report for a stolen vehicle. Petty Theft: On May 15, 2012 at 08:46 a.m. a resident from the 100 block of Bluebird Court reported the theft of her Coach purse which contained a matching Coach wallet and a bracelet. Total value approximately $800. The victim believes the purse was in a Trader Joes bag she forgot on the driveway of her home the night before. She didn’t realize her mistake until she arrived at work in Oakland this morning. Identity Theft: On May 9, 2012 at 8:23 a.m., a resident from Cardiff Court contacted Police to report identity theft. The victim discovered that someone opened an account with Walmart using her identity. A report was taken and the case is under investigation. Fire: On May 9, 2012 at 8:45 a.m., Rodeo/Hercules Fire, Hercules P.D., and AMR were dispatched to the Samara Terrace senior housing facility for a report of a fire in an apartment on the second floor. Fire requested that HPD handle evacuation of residents from the first and third floors while they handled the situation on the second floor. Police have identified a man who was fatally shot while allegedly trying to rob a Vallejo jewelry store on Thursday as 37-year-old Tremont Dejuan Williams, of Hercules. Williams had a previous address in Vallejo, police Lt. Ken Weaver said. The owner of Carrillo's Jewelry Store at 529 Broadway St. shot and killed Williams in the store's office around 12:50 p.m., Weaver said. The owner's wife called police to report that a robbery was occurring and that someone had been shot, Weaver said. The couple told police the man had jumped over the counter, pulled out a handgun and gone into the office, Weaver said. A resident from the 400 block of Falcon reported that an unidentified person used her name to file state income taxes in North Carolina. A case was taken. Hercules police are on the lookout for two attempted residential burglary suspects.
Hercules police officers are trying to track down two men suspected of attempting to break into a home on the 600 block of Silver Maple. Police responded to a call to the home Friday morning, when two men were spotted in its backyard, according to a police report. "When the suspects saw the resident inside the house, they ran to a waiting vehicle and fled the area," the report said. The car was described as a 2004 Mitsubishi Gallant with a plate number 6JMG397, said the report.

Embezzlement: On April 25, 2012 at 1:19 p.m., a 28-year-old Vallejo resident who previously worked at Hercules' Wells Fargo came to Hercules Police to provide a statement regarding his embezzlement case that was reported on April 10, 2012. He was interviewed and then placed under arrest and transported to Martinez Detention Facility. Vandalism: On April 25, 2012 at 5:10 p.m., a resident from the 200 block of Manzanita reported that someone scratched two of her vehicles with a key like object sometime between midnight and 6:00 a.m. this morning.
